Things are finally starting to get moving on this kitchen renovation. Today our quartz countertops were removed. We’re having them cut down to fit the new cabinet configuration and reinstalled. Tomorrow, all of the perimeter cabinets will be removed. I’ve tagged all of the kitchen cabinets that will be saved and reinstalled in the utility room. Let’s GOOOOO.
Speaking of the utility room, I haven’t introduced you to this space yet. It couldn’t be more simple, basically, it’s a 10’ x 6’ windowless box positioned under a stairway. The plan is to add cabinetry along the whole wall to add storage. We’ll build in the beverage cooler so that some of the space can function more like a butler’s pantry.
Because the room is small, dark, and not connected to the open-plan, I have the freedom to add more color and pattern, which will be the perfect juxtaposition with the kitchen which is more subdued. The main feature will be wallpaper and I can’t wait to get started! Yes, the image at the top of the post is a janky mock-up of the utility room!!
Next week kitchen cabinets go in. We’ve hired professional installers for this part, so I’m not too worried about them getting done on time.
Now go check all of the week 3 progress on the other One Room Challenge projects going on. Linked here.
